While staying at the Waikiki hotel, we had the opportunity to get acquainted with people who work on the beachfront.

Kent took the children for a walk and met the man who sells pictures that he takes of you and his birds. When we visited him the second time and let him know that we plan on seeing him with our guest, he let us take the birds for our own family picture above.

Another day Karen and the children walked on the beach and found some men making baskets, fish and hats out of coconut palm tree leaves. As we chatted with them, they made a toy fish for all the children. The friendliness of the people here is wonderful.

One of the weekends we took the children on a catamaran ride. The man gave us such a good deal we couldn't refuse his offer. We had a great time on the beautiful, clear water. Before we departed we let him know we will see him again with our guest. Once again, he gave us even a better deal for next time. (For all those planning to visit - we have one of your days filled with a tour of Waikiki.)
