In front is the crawler that carries
the shuttle from the Vehicle Assembly Building (in the background) to
the launch pad. The maximum speed the crawler moves with the shuttle on
it is 1 mph and the return trip with no load it has a maximum speed of 2
mph. It takes a crew of 20 technicians and engineers to run this large
piece of equipment.
