The President
of the United States takes pleasure in presenting he MERITORIOUS SERVICE
MEDAL to
LIEUTENANT
COMMANDER KENT W. KETTELL
UNITED STATES NAVY
For
outstanding meritorious service as Quality Assurance Officer and
Information Technology Director, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion,
and Repair, Groton, Connecticut from January 1997 to February 2000.
Lieutenant Commander Kettell's exceptional enthusiasm and initiative,
superb leadership skills and technical ability were highly effective in a
broad spectrum of areas. His strong leadership and direction enabled the
command to effectively work with its shipbuilding contractor to
significantly improve important aspects of its quality program. His
direction of improvements in Information Resource management led the
command to being cited as a benchmark for other commands to emulate in the
information technology area. His keen attention to detail and tireless
drive distinguished him as a primary catalyst in the success of the
Quality Assurance and Information Technology Departments. By his
exceptional professional ability, personal initiative, and total
dedication to duty, Lieutenant Commander Kettell reflected great credit
upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval
Service.
