On our way to Hawaii
(3/22/00)

The children were very
excited about their plane ride. For some it would be their first time
flying. They patiently with some excitement waited to board the
plane. For entertainment they played with two twin girls about 18 months
old. We no sooner settled in to our seats when were told there would be a two and a
half hour delay. With lunch vouchers in hand we found the nearest Mc
Donald's. Since this lunch was compliments of United Airlines, the
children were able to have a happy meal, an extra drink and a big cookie for
desert. Even with their "special" meal from McDonald's the
anticipation of a plane ride dulled their appetite.
Once again settled on
the plane, Spencer kept announcing, "Here we go!" Although a few
of the announcements were premature, it was cute listening to him talk and
talk about his plane ride. The stewardess were very helpful and were
impressed with the family that they gave Kent and I a little gift. When
Kent went to the restroom he over heard them talking that "it must be
the parents" meaning that is why the children are well behaved. I am
sure there are a lot more factors that make a family function properly,
but it is interesting to hear that they had to rationalize something.
Kent and I are thankful for our family and know it is the presence of our
God, the Lord Jesus Christ, who makes the difference. Kent
and I could not do this on our own!
I realize I have
written about our arrival in Hawaii on another journal entry, but I found these
pictures and wanted to share them with you. The family was very
thankful to be met at the airport by Aunt Tana, Cousin Kailie and Cousin
Ben. They adorned us with leis for all. We were happy to see Kent's
co-worker, Neil, who also gave us the Hawaiian welcome with leis.
